About Nicole & Company

Nicole Brown

Photographer

Nicole knew she was meant to be a photographer in 1991, when she got kicked out of her Math class for reading Popular Photography instead of learning Algebra. The love affair continued, and as a result, she was powerless to resist the lure of the darkroom and studio.

Armed with a degree in Visual Arts with Honours from the University of Victoria where she specialized in photography, Nicole spent her time working with large and medium format cameras, and continued to develop her creative eye and hone her technical skills.

After university, she traveled through the United States where she worked as an instructor of Photoshop at a community college, as a customer service representative in a professional photo lab, worked as a production assistant in a graphic design firm, and assisted several commercial photographers. However, Nicole returned to Vancouver Island because she missed everything about it - Pagliacci's Sunday Brunch, going for Dallas Road scooter rides in the spring, photographing her friends and family, and even her sister's sassy sense of humour.

Nicole loves to photograph people from the sidelines - capturing those unforgettable moments that can pass in the blink of an eye. She enjoys capturing all of these special moments in her clients lives…and not just their weddings!

When she's not photographing people, you may see Nicole and her husband Kevin riding their vintage Lambretta scooters along West Saanich Road, playing with their daughter Kennedy, or attempting to train their naughty dog, Martin.

Helene Cornell

Destination Wedding Photography Specialist

Helene didn't need to get kicked out of class to realize she wanted to become a photographer. She realized it when she entered her first photography class in 1999. Like Nicole, she graduated with a degree in Visual Arts with Honours from the University of Victoria in 2002.

After university, she moved to Los Angeles with a single suitcase, her camera, and her Dolce and Gabbana stilettos. She worked as a production assistant, location scout, a photo editor - and with all of her talents, wedding photography became a natural fit.

Eventually, love moved Helene to the “wedding capital” of California, San Diego - where she currently resides with her husband Preston, and Boston Terrier puppy, June.

You might recognize her work in Destination Wedding Magazine, WebLuxe, or quite possibly, in Balboa Park, scolding her dog for attempting to eat butterflies.

Shealyn Jackson

Assistant Photographer

Shealyn discovered her love of photography shortly after her daughter, Sophie was born. With photography, Shealyn focused in the day to day life of her children. She finds joy and creates beautiful images from the informal milestones of a child's life.

Shealyn has been married happily for 7 years to her one and only true love, Rick. Shealyn and Rick have two children together, Sophie and Liam, and one frisky kitty, Marie.

When she's not photographing people, Shealyn can be found PVRing Backyardigans, having fabulous dinner parties, treasure hunting with Liam, looking for fairies with Sophie, or putting glitter on a craft project.
