All about Nicole

Nicole Brown
Photographer & Owner

I graduated with a degree in Visual Arts with Honours from the University of Victoria in 2000 where I specialized in photography. I spent my time working with large and medium format cameras, lived in the darkroom, while I continued to develop my creative eye and my technical skills.

After university, since I didn’t have a house plant or anything holding me back I followed my heart away from Vancouver Island.

What a silly heart-but my heart nonetheless.

I traveled through the United States where I worked as an instructor of Photoshop at a community college, as a customer service representative in a professional photo lab, worked as a production assistant in a graphic design firm, and assisted several commercial photographers.

But after a while I turned around to go home. I missed everything about Vancouver Island. Vancouver Island will always have my heart. I missed giant Garry Oak Trees, Tofino, Pagliacci’s Sunday Brunch, Dallas Road scooter rides in the spring, being with my friends and family, and I even missed the Westcoast rain storms on the beach.

I am happiest behind a camera and I love working with people. I started my professional career as wedding photographer in 2004 and there it sparked my love of being in the moment. I am intrigued with people’s stories and I’ll never tire of capturing something genuine, something beautiful, and something real.

When I am without my camera, you may see me and my husband Kevin riding our vintage Lambretta scooters along West Saanich Road, playing with our daughters Kennedy and Katie, getting lost in the woods, buying way too many fancy gumboots, or attempting to train my naughty Boston Terrier, Martin.

Children and Family are my main focus both in work, art, and in life.
